Today we'll be discussing the Furious, directed and choreographed by Kenji Tanigaki, written by Tin Shumak, Zilong Lei, Quan Xin Shun, and Frank Hui, starring Mia Ji, Joe Taslan, Brian Lee, Yan Yan Ruiyan, and Jija Yanin. So with the preamble out of the way, let's jump right in.

But uh one thing that I'll put over the the raid two is that its story was very not complex, but it was a it was a meaty story.

Honestly, the story was really good, especially for an action movie. Especially for an action movie. But it really gets an American, so yeah, definitely go with that. American writers, yeah. Um, American Studios.

I mean, they didn't want the first John Wick, it was a very simple story, but a lot of action.

Yeah, but yeah, but I mean, like this story actually flowed with it. It was it didn't feel like it was an extra part of it, like like they just threw this in just to make it not all action. This it it was actually a really solid plot.

Like, he does not he he literally stops after getting hit by a fucking car, he stops to take a water break, walk it off, and goes out.

And in this house, we say that Tom Cruise is one of the best runners on screen. Sure. My wife turned to me after seeing this man run down that motherfucking street and through those buildings and said he's got Tom B.

We was we gotta get there because I do want to talk about that too. All right, but yeah, we'll get there. Stone it so the movie opens up in this uh Southeast East Asian city, yeah, somewhere in Southeast Asia, yeah, somewhere in Southeast Asia where and we see a woman uh pouring over data um that's and uh pick we see pictures of children, and it looks like she's linking um data with the missing children. She gets a phone call um from her husband who is asking about her coming home. Um she tells she kind of answers his question with another question about a young boy that they saw previously, uh the last couple of uh a couple of days ago, and um and she says that he's gonna miss her. So presumably she's trying to track down this boy now, and um she believes that and it looks like it's all a network. Um we find out that her name is Matthaya, and we do see a picture of her husband, um, Navee. Next, we see her going into a warehouse, and um she hears screams coming from a hallway from down the hallway that she's walking. She looks into the um there's a hole in the wall, she looks through, and she sees a man about to accost a child with uh some sort of torture fucking tool, and she busts in the room, kicks his ass, and takes the kid. And uh, this is where the fucking action starts.

Yeah, yeah. This was this was not even two minutes into the movie. Like no, it's probably a little longer, it's probably like honestly, but it don't feel like it at all.

It feels like you blinked and action basically, and the and the movie uh just jumps right into it. So she she grabs the kid, they start running, and then the morgoons come out, and uh she fights them off. And I honestly did not know that this would be a fight scene. I honestly I thought she was just gonna get caught or whatever, and it was gonna jump. Nah, get a whole fucking fight scene.

The one thing that I like about it is that it establishes it's that it's action early, it's it's ethos and it's um idea for action early. This is multiple people like this is a you know, this is real brawls, people aren't necessarily waiting waiting for their turn, right? Uh people are coming in, and the protagonist um has to deal with that shit.

Yep, sure does. The way they uh tie up bodies, and it looks like so. Sh is known for her uh um was it uh not wow, not taekwondo.

Yeah, because she was uh she's uh uh works with Tony Ja. She's right known as Tony Ja's sister, sort of, you know what I mean?

Right, exactly. She's affectionately known as Tony Ja's sister. She was kneeing motherfuckers back to kindergarten just like uh her older brother. So um I didn't first off, I didn't realize this was Jiu Ja, but then later on I thought about it, and she doesn't even really use her movie tie. It's a lot of honestly, what Joe Toslam uses, who plays her husband, Jujo, which is also which is a crazy thing to do. Because that's that's thought, yeah, because exactly that that's a thought process. Like, because the thing is later we see um in the photo uh of uh Naveen and um Matthaya, we see um them in their ghee. Um and later on we can tell uh um uh Naveen's martial art is more judo, he's looking for a grapple, he's looking for a hold, and he's tying people up. And we see the same thing with Matthaya, and it's crazy that they were like, you know what, she should use her husband's martial, you know, the martial arts that she practices with her husband instead of you know the actress's own usual martial arts. That's a crazy thought process that nobody I don't like normally. It's just like, yeah, it's a fight, see fuck it. Whatever you do, you do. Nah, this is this is thought out.

That was she wasn't using her form, she she absolutely wasn't, but yeah, she didn't even go to uh she was hitting a few of her kicks, but yeah, she definitely hit definitely hit a few of her kicks, but it was still she was wrapping people up in their clothes and stuff like that in order to and like Sean said deal with the multiple people coming at her, yeah. So she was wrapping them up and using them, their limbs, their limbs to wrap each other up, which is fucking again is something I've never seen a judo practitioner do in a martial arts movie. Never. This is the first time I've ever seen that shit, me personally.

You are right, so we um so uh during the fight, she tells the child that she just rescued to run. Um and we see two men enter while Mattai is fighting, and one of the men has a bow and arrow, the other one is in what is in wear glasses and it's a well in a well-dressed suit. I don't know what it is, and I don't know if it's been just so many martial arts movies, or maybe I could tell that um the dude in the suit was Korean off the bat, but I knew he was gonna use uh taekwondo, like I just fucking felt it.

And what was bad was once he unleashed, I was like, Oh, yep. Oh yeah, um and it was bad things. I I almost recognized him, but he looked different than the last time I've seen him. And um apparently, remember I said it uh uh the house gave him a moniker, yeah. Like yeah, apparently he was seen before, and they was given that moniker before, and me and my wife forgot because uh oldest son was like, Yeah, he'd been there for like so-and-so movie, like, oh crap, that was him.

Yeah, and part of like the catharsis of watching the the bad guy in the suit get beat down is watching him have to resort to the same crude tactics that the protagonist has to use.

So we cut to see uh man fixing a wooden kung fu practice dummy. From here on his dad bro, because we don't get his name. Um well not until the end of the movie, anyway. To me, he's dad, bro. Um we see that uh he's about to practices on the dummy and it shows that you know he's got some skill. And um we see that he's about to leave for working, uh uh waste his daughter to say bye. Um his daughter name we find out later is Rainey. So Rainey asks to go with him to work, uh work with him, and he agrees. We notice that he's signing everything, but not speaking. But Rainy is speaking out loud, so from that we tell could tell that he's mute. Um not deaf, right? Because he can hear because at first I was like, why is he signing everything? But then I'll and then as and then he's answering after listening. So I'm like, he can't be fucking deaf. So I was like, Oh, he's gotta be mute. That's new. I was like, that's interesting. I've really never seen that in the movie.

Um, so we see um Rainy um in a small shop uh recording herself on her uh phone saying that it's only the she's only gonna be for death for the next couple of days, and then she's gonna go back to school. Uh, we see her go to help her father and she chastises him with for not wearing the steel toed boots that she got him. That comes up later. Um well, very simple, straightforward plot. Yeah, it's very simple, straightforward. Um you know, once a character mixes something, it comes back later. Yep. And not and not even like too far later.

Um Rainy assists her father by uh passing him a tool, she flips it, she throws it, and he um and um dad bro, no look catches it. Um and so we see we've seen multiple instances where the man has skill, which we just don't know where from. But um, she also attempts to get him in the video, but he um um pointedly stays out of it and pushes and pushes it away, but even to the point where she's she's continuing on and trying to get him into the video. Come on, dad! Yeah, and he he moves so far out of the way, he bangs his head on a pipe underneath the sink. And it's like, okay, that motherfucker does not want to be filmed, and this is what song on where we hear about his head trauma as well. Yeah, so we notice that um, so those are interesting tidbits that those parts aren't talked about later. So those are so no, no, they're there. Right, I think that it signals that we there's definitely more to this character, and yes, we're probably gonna we're probably gonna get a sequel because um the way it ended, yeah. Well, one the way it ended, and also they talk about um like he's anytime she mentions like mainland China or something like that, he looks iffy about that shit. Yeah, I'm like, what did you do?

Um, she basically calls him scared and says, you know, how you're gonna go through life being scared, basically. Yeah, and the audience is like, yeah, nah, he ain't scared.

Um and uh Naveen tells him that he'd found a buyer for um the guy with the afro. We don't know exactly what they're talking about yet. Um and um Naveen pulls up uh three fingers and is like and the guy with the afro is like, sure, no problem. You know, three is not an issue. Um Naveen corrects him and says 30 to which the dude with the afro spits, and at the same time, because it's a it's a shopping district, so they're making food outside. The fire shoots up from um one of some uh guy working a walk.

He knocks uh Dad bro's cap off and immediately looks like he's seen a ghost. So so he tries to so Dabro holds up a picture of Rainy, not even saying anything, just basically, where is she? Um, and uh Afroman's like, Oh, you're looking for her, kind of uh turns around and uh about to you know hit him with a haymaker with the bottle with a bottle in his hand, and um, yeah, dabro ain't having it. Um, so we have a fight that assumes there, and a beautiful fucking toe, and again the steel toe boots come up. He toe kicks Afro Man right in the fucking ribs, and we hear the goddamn crunch, and the the camera goes down to the food goes uh shows um dad bro's uh boots and like steel toe boots, those are still toe boots that uh start off.

Oh he's actually being pulled over a rail, ties up a bunch of people together, and fucking uh uses his weight to move all to move all of them down, like a fucking um what's that goddamn movie? Step up dance, and he brings them all down every left, all down. It's crazy. So um he uh Dabro follows Afro Man into um the cage where the fights were happening, and um, but one of the fighters actually uh knocks uh Dabro off of Afro Man. And this is where um so he's starting to get surrounded in the cage. Um Afro Man locks the cage and is like, nah, you ain't getting out, motherfucker. Um so Dabro fights them for a little bit, but then people start to climb into the cage, and this is when uh dabro pulls out the motherfucking hammer. So uh he so he pulls out the ball pee hammer. Uh one guy uh tries to come at him with a uh a beer bottle, he smashes the beer bottle in mid in midair, and um he starts going to work with this motherfucking hammer, just beating the fucking shit out of everybody. Uh, dude that tried to drop the bottle on gets a hit in the sternum. The other another guy gets a fucking uh knee uh uh hammer to the knee. Uh he uh it's amazing the way he breaks people down, and and then also again with the physicality, he people start to climb in, but it's a small space, so they're trying to dog pile on that bro again. But he's using their bodies and climbing up them like a human pyramid, and people as people are literally climbing over their fucking friends to get to them, he's knocking them out with a fucking hammer and getting on top of them. Oh, 100% that's yeah, that's the one literally breaks the guy's leg with a hammer after watching it. It could be CGI because like it's crazy. That that leg does not bend in a human way.

So Dabro's able to get out of the cage, he tracks down fucking um Afro Man, who's uh basically sees his life flashing before his fucking eyes, and the way he tracks his ass, uh he like slides into Afro Dude, splits his legs apart so he can't fucking can't fucking run anymore, and like ties him up uh like he like he's a fucking um show pig. Like he's he's like spinning him around and shit. The whole it's crazy what he's doing, these people, and in order to tie him up. So but uh Afroman's able to get away. He gets to the second floor where he meets Naveen. Naveen's like, fuck is you calling so and Naveen is up yeeting uh Afroman back into the uh uh octagon, and now Afroman is like uh he's done for he's done. He looks he looks fucking common toes, he's fucking foaming at the mouth of shit. Yeah, so um Dabro looks from um Afro Man because he's not gonna get any answers from him to um Naveen, who seems to be kind of running away.

So um so the again they uh uh Naveen says back to um uh Dad bro, Faint East Um attack West. So they work around, they uh knock out um song uh with two big ass metal containers. Uh I'm guessing that's how they form the ice. And um and then we see the foot the we see the fucking fight with Ho and um uh with Ho, Gabro, and Naveen. And my god, this fucking fight.

It's bullshit. How about that? So she fit so she um finds like a metal plate that you put over like a um a switch, a light switch. So um, and she uses a quote or a quarter and unscrews it, um, and builds a fucking bridge to these fucking bars at the in the room that the kids are in. Uh climbs up there and starts sharpening that shit. So I'm like, she's not gonna cut through those fucking bars. What is she doing? So we see later what she's doing.

Um people so but um Rainey is able to get away, and she actually uh runs it to multiple people, multiple guys. So this this is the first time I thought Rainey was about to get down because um they pull Rainey back and um the uh and throw her on the ground. She gets up, wipes her fucking face, and stares those motherfuckers down. I was like, okay, what's about to happen here?

Um meanwhile, outside, uh the broadcast when you said that show, I was like, oh, this is this is this is this nigga's last stand.

Um the sergeant are argues with them, but it is like he's not having it, so she relents. Meanwhile, um at some point during the fight, uh the crew in the snake pit call for reinforcements, and the reinforcements come through, and um the captain lets them through the barricade, and the sergeant's yellow, like, what the fuck? And she was like, Yo, are you fucking serious right now? And Captain's like, shut your ass up, and she's like, They have to these look like bad guys.

Yeah, and um they whoever doesn't surrender gets shot, and every everybody else gets arrested. Um so this is so this is our false ending. Because uh we see everybody reunites, um, and Naveen goes up to the sergeant and asks if um he's seeing um if she's seen um his wife anywhere in Matai. And uh she's like, no, we haven't seen anybody else in the building besides the kids and the you know assholes. Um he's defeated, but he's not completely broken. Um we later see so we later see them, everybody at the police station. Um the sergeant is taking um uh dabros uh story and uh tells her tells him that um unfortunately, like we know you acted in self-defense and you were trying to protect your daughter, but unfortunately, we can't let you out or leave until a judge seeds you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. She she does try to ask him um who uh he is what this talent is, so and um uh dad versus my man was like, you know what? And I was like, bullshit, bullshit, like okay, okay, sir, I'm just a father, sir. I'd have been dead five times over, sir. It's a one-man army and whoop ass.

Um so Tack uh pulls out the Kukri and uh starts uh chopping at his arm. This does not happen smoothly.

Yeah, it's right, it was right outside the ice place. Makes sense, hung up, and um see all the places them arrows were in, yeah. It was everywhere, they were everywhere. I was like, how do you have so many arrows or stuff? Eyes, yeah, everywhere.

Tag is trying to cut everybody, fucking the same pandemonium, and everybody's trying not to get hit. So and we see like there's multiple times where they split off and everything. Yep. Oh so um right before Naveen can grab it, uh Tack picks it up and says to come and take it.

And um, and while this is happening, fucking Pak Wong is fighting Ho, and he gets uh one of yeah, and they're they're well and then but before that, what happens the slickest fucking taekwondo move I've ever seen in my entire country. I don't even know what the fuck to call it. It's a scorpion, the scorpion tails is ass. So he picks up uh um Tox Kukri with his fucking feet, by the way, and designer shoes picks up the fucking Kukri by the handle with his feet, does a cartwheel uh and he's on his hands, pulls his fucking feet back and bats a fucking Kukri in a hole's shoulder like a scorpion. And then from that, he toe is still fucking fighting, and then so they get to a point where uh you know uh fucking Packlung is cutting hoes ass up there on the ground, they start hitting each other like rock em sockam fucking robots. Um, and so right as um Naveen dies, um uh Packlung gets a better hole. I can't remember what he finish finishes hole off with. Is there a kookri again? Yeah. So he finished finishes the hole off with the kukri, and um, so Wei and Paclung have a stare-off, yeah. The kukri. And um Packlung remembers that there are children nearby and one is injured.
